Transformed Into Christ's Image--part 1

for many years i have been captivated by the issue of the specific ways we as fallen human beings (who also presently live in a fallen world) are genuinely and thoroughly transformed by our heavenly Father into the image of His Son--Jesus Christ. this is, after all, the open agenda that God has in Christ for each us and our deep desire to become a perfect person is a witness to this divine intention for us.

Rom 8:28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

some time ago, i came up with a sentence that i believe effectively summarizes the broad dynamics of this process. here's the sentence:

we are transformed into the image of Christ by the impartation of the experiential knowledge of God and ourselves in the context of life's circumstances as embodied, socialized beings who live in response to the graceful leadership of the Holy Spirit.

i have actually taught a 30 hour course on this one sentence, so i figue that i can blog on about it for a while too!
